Blackstone River - Woonsocket RI
Access point is a small launch site behind Cold Spring Park in Woonsocket RI. Area has been cleaned up and renovated quite a bit since our last trip there. Access to the river was very easy.
Weather was great, no wind, plenty of sun, flow of river was very slow with the paddling being good.
We put in at 1100am at the launch site and heading south downriver 1 mile to the dam in Woonsocket RI.
There are 4 road/bridge crossings on that section of the river.
Those areas are where we had the most luck fishing. We were able to pull in 6 small mouth bass ranging from 10" to 16", most were caught around the bridge supports.
We were using crank baits and rubber worms for most of the day.
Not a lot of cover along the river, the area along the river has been cut back quite a bit. Another small John boat was also fishing the same area. Several people were fishing with live bait from the shore line, spoke to a couple of boys who were fishing the bottom with live bait and witnessed them pulling in a 16" small mouth bass from the shore.
If your looking for large carp we saw several large carp in a couple of spots with the carp sitting along the shore line in 10" of water.
Paddled down to the dam, then back to the launch site, took a break and paddled upstream to the St Paul St bridge, then back to the launch site at 400pm.
Overall we had a pretty good day and will be planning another trip to this location very soon.
