Bought a new rod and reel this winter and with the weather at 50 I couldn't resist! This is the most I spent on a rod and reel thus far, Abu Garcia rod and reel ( REEL-REVO S SPIN and ROD-ABU VERITAS SP ). So Jackie and I went to the Blackstone River just to take a few casts and see how it felt. It works! Nice fish and I was wearing a tee shirt in February! Added a photo of the next day as well, crazy weather.

Woke up this morning and the weather man said sunny today and rain the rest of the week. I felt sick so decided to call out of work. Amazingly I felt much better right afterwards so I took a trip to Hopkinton and fished Lake Maspenock. Put the Kayak in @ 9am and fished until 10:30. Not a nibble, I could not believe how low the water level was! I have been fishing here for only 2 or 3 season and never seen it like this. Check out the picks and water level marks, docks out of the water. Does anyone fish this lake, is this extremely low? The bite for me seems dead so I think im going to pack it in for the year but continue to Kayak until its to cold!

Tight lines!

Family vacation to Fern Lake. Went there in 2012 when I just started fishing and only caught a couple bass for the week on rubber worms and a push button reel. A few years later I go there with 5 rods and hundreds of $$ worth of tackle! LOL and i nail it, smallies everywhere! and LGmouths too. Tried everything in my tackle box but senkos worked best, go figure. Lost 4 or 5 on chatter baits as I usually do, out of the water shacking! It seems every fish came out of the water fishing up there and I lost a lot and caught a lot. No pike or walleye. I was told by a local the stocked 1500 walleye last year there. Thought I share some pis. Great lake, would recommend renting up there, cheap and beautiful. Lots of trails for hiking as well.

Early springs always tough, been skunked a few times and waiting for the bite to start. I had Saturday off so I hooked up with my buddy on a small pond behind his house in Blackstone. Fished from 6am to 8am, chilly morning, pond was dead calm and quite, cloudy skies and the fish were all sleeping. By 8am we each had 1 small pickerel and that was it! Went back home and the family was still sleeping, now what.
By 11:00am everyone left and I was home alone, this sux. So I packed up my Kayak and went to a honey hole bshirley508 told me about ( love MAFF). This little river ranges from 6 inches to 3 to 4 feet when its high and dries up every summer. Well glad I went, as soon as I put the Kayak in the bite was on! 5 Bass 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 lbs. in the first 20 minutes all and rubber worms, I'm feeling better about the day already. Just as I near the end I see some trees in the water and say this looks promising. Then I do something I haven't done in 2 years, I threw a SENKO ! yup dont know why, just did, green watermelon, let it sink, wait, give it a tug and I notice my line is going the other direction so I tug a bit more them BAMM! Rod bends, heart rate jumps, smile ear to ear! You know its a pig! Get him on board, weigh him, photo shoot then sit back and enjoy. If I still smoked I would have lit one up and put my feet in the water! My hands were shaking and heart rate was still up! That's why we do it, what a great feeling. Finally the bite is on, a great day of fishing!!

Took a trip down the Blackstone river today with my brother. Started in Uxbridge and end at the Gorge in Blackstone. fished from 6:45am to 12:00 with 6 fish between the two of us. Water was very low, got hung up a few times but never had to get out of the boats. Fishing was hard, the fish caught were along the edges or under trees. Senkos and rubber worms were working. Tried cranks, jigs and weighted creatures, no bites. I have not caught a fish on a jig yet !!! Ended trip a little early due to the breeze, blew around the canoe!, kayaks rock, canoes suc!

Its family vacation time!! This year was at Symes Pond Vermont. http://www.vermontproperty.com/detail/Vermont/northeast-kingdom-rentals/345/#.U_5WNY10zIU

Log cabin right on the pond, great weather, nice pond, mountains, nice relaxing trip. The cabin comes with 2 canoes and 2 kayaks. It was an extra $50 for the 2 kayaks. I know realize how nice my kayak is after fishing in a regular kayak with plastic seats and no rod holders! Cant fit my kayak with the cargo carrier on top, not sure I would bring it anyways.
Like all family vacation I dream of getting up early and fishing every day only to be reminded by my wife that is a family vacation and she made plans. With that said most of the fishing was done middle day or before sunset. Place was scary at night, no way was I going out! First 2 days of fishing sucked, no bites. Worms, cranks, jigs, spinners, top water.... Then the rest of the week went crazy! Cranks were catching the biggest perch I've ever caught. Not in weight but long, and of course some giant pickerel, this is always fun on your lap in a kayak! No senkos on this trip but the turtle back Gulp worms were a big hit for the SM. My PB SM 4.45! All the SM put up amazing fights. Not sure if that's the norm but its was fun. I caught a few LM, 2 and 3lbs on spinners and worm but SM dominated! Great time, great pond though not sure I would recommend it. Paid about $1200, cabin was nice but small, fairly new, pond was nice but if it was 90 hot and humid no AC and no Wi-Fi only a Wi-Fi hot spot.

Its Friday and its pouring outside! I've been cleaning the house all morning and its getting old. Around 1:00 the rain stops so I jump in the car with Jackie and find a place to cast a couple lines before the rain comes again. The Blackstone river , I got about a 1/2 hour in and caught 2 nice bass and made it back before the kids came home from school!
A Good day

Woke up this morning and turned on the TV to get the weather. The weather man said its going to be a miserable day, cold and rainy, good day to stay inside! My brother and I were supposed to fish at 7:00am but then I get a text saying he's not going, he'll go on a nicer day. So I go to D&D's for a coffee and the cashier says what a terrible day, good day to stay inside the house. Well I grab my Kayak and fish from 7:30 to 10:00 then again from 2:00pm to 3:30 at a couple of local ponds. All and all I caught around 12 Bass, most over 1 1/2 lbs and maybe 4 over 2 +.
Its good to get your ass outside!

Took a trip to Holliston, Lake Winthrop. Been here twice in the summer with not to much luck but figure its a nice big lake with no ice so I'll try it again. Hit the lake at 10:30 and fished until 1:00, nothing absolutely nothing. Crank baits, large, small, different colors even played with my jerk ( as Stratos advised in 'how cold is to cold') rubber worms not even a nibble. Maybe I'm jerking wrong? I always have trouble fishing here, 3 to 4 foot vegetation everywhere just under the water. Anyone like this place? Fished the 2 islands and all along the edge in the back near cemetery then fished the deep middle for a 1/2 hour or so. Beautiful day, nice pics but that's it.

Couldn't take it, one the way home stopped by Pond X, old faithful. 6 or 7 cast from shore and bang! it a nice pickerel. I'm happy, went home, ate a tons of food and played on the Xbox ( NHL 2013). Winters coming !!!!!!!!!

Went to Whitins pond in Uxbridge a few weeks ago and notice a lot of water around this area so thought I would go find a new fishing hole. Found nearby Meadow pond around 7:00am. Fished for about 2 1/2 hours and it was a good day! About 6 Bass and 2 pickerel. Most of this pond has weeds just a few inches below the surface. Senkos were not working, all colors and sizes. All fish were caught on my NEW crank bait, now one of my favorites! Dont usually use them but man when a new lure works its fun! The lunker of the day ( 3 pounder) nailed this thing! Good stuff
