Since a few of us (more are welcome) have set a date and location for our CTFF Yak Outing, I decided to check out Lake Williams. Rooftop launch area can fit fifteen vehicles or maybe more if parked properly. Fifty yards along the shore is a picnic table and fairly decent area to possibly hang out and imbibe a few (for those interested). Arrived at 9:30 AM ( a little later than planned) and paddled out past several islands. Found a nice calm area in a corner of 2 islands and proceeded to catch 5 bass and 1 pickeral. Largest bass was 16" and had a nice belly (2.2 lbs). Threw several choices out, but they seemed to hit anything watermelon w/black & red flecks. Rage craw, senkos and red & black spinnerbait. Senkos being the best. Around noon the power boats came out and started chopping up the lake. Things died down and I left my sweet spot I found.
Fish seemed to move to deeper locations at this time. Caught 3 more LMB of insignificant size in 6-8 feet of water during my paddle back in. Saw A LOT of wide, deep spawning beds along the East shore. Must be fun here during the spawn. Nests empty at this point.
